For beginners and the more experienced, this course is the ideal place to start or to improve your technique of wheel throwing.
In a relaxed atmosphere, Laurence shares her know-how as she guides you at your own pace through your projects. Her teaching is based on a progressive and individual approach. You will learn to throw dishes and decorative pieces, bowls, vases, teapots, bottles...Laurence will guide you to find your own language with the wheel.
The pieces will be then decorated with a great selection of glazes in order to make them utilitarian. The pieces will be fired to a high temperature in an electric kiln.
This course is primarily a place for sharing experiences and ceramic techniques. Your observations and your own ceramic adventures will contribute to everyone's learning experience.
There will be
class on January 22. Class will meet on: Jan. 8, Jan. 15, Jan 29, Feb. 5, Feb. 12, & Feb. 19.
Please bring an apron and towel to class.
Included in the course fee: 25lbs of clay, a selection of glazes and electric firing. CLM provides a range of glazes; however, if you require a glaze that CLM does not carry, you will be responsible for ordering and purchasing it on your own.
Pottery tools are required and a $19 starter tool kit is available for purchase (exact change or check only) on the the first day of class or you may bring your own tools.
